Since Roberto De Zerbi started excelling at Brighton & Hove Albion, the Italian media have been giving big coverage to his job with the Seagulls.

Now the manager is being suggested as a future option for the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.

The claims come from former Italian goalkeeper Sebastian Frey, who was working with TV Play on Wednesday.

There, he claimed that De Zerbi’s work at Brighton is so good that he’d be up to the challenge of taking charge of Manchester City or Manchester United.

“When I said that the Italian is becoming a great coach, I meant it and I meant it,” said Frey.

“De Zerbi is (great), and in England he is making a masterpiece and his imprint is visible. This gentleman here can go to a big club because what he’s doing is monstrous. It’s not easy in Italy while, if we see him at Manchester City or Manchester United, he can do well.”

Following his work at Darfo Boario, Foggia, Palermo, Benevento, Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk, De Zerbi took charge of Brighton in September 2022.

The manager holds a record of 21 wins, seven draws and 13 defeats in 41 games with the Seagulls so far, and led the club to the sixth position in the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Manchester City and Manchester United seem pretty satisfied with their managers for now, but at some point in the future, it isn’t a crazy idea to imagine De Zerbi being linked to them.
