Ajax manager Peter Bosz has told the Dutch media that Newcastle United’s Tim Krul needs to be more patient in his comeback. Krul joined the Dutch side on loan for the season as he recovers from a serious knee injury he sustained last season.
Voetbal Primeur have reported on comments Bosz made to Ajax TV when asked about the situation with Krul. The Newcastle United player was overlooked at the weekend, but Bosz said he wants to protect the Dutchman. The Ajax boss said Krul is eager to play, which he understands, but he still believes he’s not 100% over his injury.
“There are players who play again after seven months, unbelievable, but there are also people who need more than one year. You can’t predict it. With Tim, he really wants to play and is very eager, I understand that, but we must take into consideration he had such a heavy injury and protection steps need to be taken,” said Bosz.
Due to Newcastle United manger Rafa Benitez bringing in Matz Sels early in the last transfer window from Gent, Krul was sent on loan to Ajax to get more opportunities.
Krul played just nine games for Newcastle United in the last campaign before his injury on international duty.
