Ibiza manager Lucas Alcaraz has confirmed that Leeds United are finalising an agreement with Los Angeles FC for midfielder Mateusz Bogusz to move to MLS.

That’s according to Diario Ibiza, who cover comments from the manager today in a press conference, where he was asked about the impending deal.

Bogusz has been on loan with the Spanish side last season and had appeared likely to remain there until the end of this year when there was no movement in the January transfer window.

That has not transpired, though, with reports this week making it clear that he is on the verge of moving to America with Los Angeles FC.

Indeed, a report earlier today stated that he had already said goodbye to his teammates at Ibiza and returned to his native Poland ahead of taking a flight to America to start his adventure there.

That also stated that Leeds would be paying Ibiza a fee for ending his loan deal early and while Alcaraz did not confirm as much when asked about the subject today, he did admit Leeds were in the final stages of their negotiations to sell the midfielder.

“The clubs are closing an agreement,” he said.

“The player has asked to leave and by asking we understand that he is not here with his mind. Regardless of the quality of each player or his condition, we need people 100% involved.

“It is a situation in which the decision-making capacity of the club is highly directed by the will of the player. We take into account that he is not here at 100%. He has had a very good opportunity and has asked to take advantage of it.

“For me there is a before and after. When he decides to go out, it’s after the Andorra game, because he ran like an animal there, but when the train passes and he sees it, that’s when he changes his mentality.

“We need them to open the door inwards the people inside are willing to kill each other for salvation, and Bogusz is on another stage right now.”

This has now reached America, as journalist Tom Bogert took to Twitter to report that LAFC are ‘finalising a deal’ for the Leeds midfielder.
