If the reports from Italy over the past week or so are to be believed, AS Roma are making a strong effort to sign Diogo Dalot from Manchester United.
José Mourinho wants a new right-back for his squad, and his affinity towards and knowledge of his compatriot from their time together at Old Trafford appears to have made the former Milan loanee his number one target.
Tiago Pinto is said to be hard at work, but Manchester United, as tends to be the case, want to maximise any income they can from a deal.
They played hard to get over Chris Smalling, and are doing so again with Dalot, who, according to Corriere dello Sport, is ‘awaiting a concrete offer to leave’ the Premier League side.
As explained by Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday and repeated by Corriere on Monday, Manchester United want a loan with an obligation to buy at €15m, which Roma feel is too much of a commitment.
Corriere explain the Serie A side are ‘looking for a loan (free until June) and a right to buy at €10m’.
Manchester United, however, ‘are not making discounts and if the demands don’t get lowered, Pinto would be prepared to go onto other names’.
Time for the Red Devils to decide if their hill is one worth dying on.
