Manchester United are one of the clubs in the race for River Plate midfielder Nicolas De La Cruz, according to reports from Argentina.
Live on TNT Sports, reporter Sebastián Srur brought last night the latest updates on the competition for his signing, where he claimed there are five European clubs who’ve been in touch for the 24-year-old this summer.
He only got to know the name from two of them, which are Fiorentina and Manchester United, explaining the clubs who want the midfielder would pay between €16m and €20m, and it’s believed the offers are going to arrive soon.
Only then will the subject of a potential sale get discussed.
Of course TNT Sports’s website went a little sensationalist with it, featuring a headline saying “Manchester United want to take a player from River: The English club would pay up to 20 million euros to buy Nicolás De la Cruz”.
De La Cruz’s talent for River Plate hasn’t gone unnoticed, and that’s why he’s been linked to several European sides in the past couple of years, including Everton and Manchester City.
The 24-year-old is an important asset for the Millonario and a regular starter for Uruguay, where he’s currently playing the Copa America along with Manchester United star Edinson Cavani.
TNT Sports’ story even wonders if it was the striker who recommended De La Cruz to the Red Devils, although that is pure speculation for the time being.
