With Erik ten Hag arriving at Manchester United and willing to bring Dutch players from Ajax to Old Trafford, it’s hard to think of someone better to comment on those moves than Louis van Gaal.
The former Red Devils boss, who’s currently in charge of Oranje again, has spoken to the local media about his compatriot and the signings he could make.
Talking about Ten Hag, Van Gaal suggested the manager will be able to do a good job in charge of Manchester United, given he’ll have a different kind of management at the club.
“I’ve spoken to him and there is now a new leadership at Manchester United and that could make all the difference. He has a lot of confidence and who am I to question?” said van Gaal (via Voetbal International).
Louis van Gaal also talked about Jurrien Timber, who’s been pointed out by the media as one of the main names who Ten Hag would like to bring to Old Trafford this summer.
“I think a player of his quality can play in the Premier League. But whether he can handle that step now: I don’t know. He’ll have to play.”
Despite confident claims from the English media regarding Manchester United’s pursuit for Timber, we’ve recently seen the Dutch media getting doubtful about the move, saying the player could end up staying in Amsterdam for longer.
