Liverpool and Swansea City are the only Premier League sides to find themselves with representatives in Gazzetta dello Sport’s weekly team.
Each Monday the grand old Italian newspaper pick out a selection of the best performances from around Europe’s leagues, ignoring their own Serie A, and compile it into a European Team of the Week.
There’s usually a few Premier League teams with players in the selection, but this week it’s left to Liverpool and Swansea City. For the Welsh club, Kyle Naughton scored his first Swansea goal, and it was a crucial one in first half injury time.
Naughton made the score against Sunderland 2-0, and Swansea’s away victory ultimately kept the club in the Premier League.
Philippe Coutinho’s double and assist for Liverpool in a 4-0 victory over a poor West Ham was enough to get him Man of the Match, and a place in the Gazzetta selection.
Other notable names in the team this week include former Liverpool favourite Dirk Kuyt, who scored a hat-trick as Feyenoord won the league, and Barcelona’s hat-trick hero Neymar, who dedicated the goals to his mum, on what was Mother’s Day in Brazil.
