Liverpool have opened talks for the contract extension of Sadio Mané, according to claims on Saturday.

It’s French outlet Soccer Link who says the negotiations have already started. The process is said to be in the very early stages, but is enough to make the Reds’ intentions clear.

After his great season, having won the Champions League and getting to the Africa Cup of Nations final, Mané saw his value going high, so the Anfield side want to feel secure about his future.

That’s why even though his current contract runs until 2023, Liverpool will be trying to extend it and give Mané a pay raise.

Since signing for the Reds in a €40m deal from Southampton in 2016, Mané had 65 goals and 23 assists in 129 matches for the club.

After scoring a brace against Newcastle United this weekend, the 27-year-old now has the impressive numbers of six goals in six matches this season, being his side’s top scorer so far.
