Like every summer, Juventus are looking for a new midfielder, and, like every summer, more and more names keep being linked with a move to Turin.
The ‘favourite’ for the role keeps changing too: first it was Steven N’Zonzi, then it was Blaise Matuidi. Now? Emre Can.
The Liverpool midfielder has been a long term target of the Serie A side, always being named as one of the players the club were looking at, and it’s his contract situation, which we’ve discussed before, that makes him a viable option.
The Germany international has less than a year remaining on his Anfield deal, and with no signs that he’ll renew anytime soon, there’s a feeling that if the right offer came, the Reds could be forced to sell in fear of letting him go on a free next summer.
Of course, all of this can change in an instant if Can decides to prolong his time under Jürgen Klopp, but, for now, that isn’t the case, and that allows Juventus to dream.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday are the ones coming up with the ‘favourites’ tag, which is in line with their previous reporting of the situation, claiming a bid of €30m could be in the works for the 23-year-old.
They even go with ‘sprint for Can’ in their headline, suggesting Juventus could be stepping up their efforts to sign him in the near future.
We’ll have to wait and see.
