Liverpool appear to have missed out on the signing of Torino defender Perr Schuurs, with the centre-back set to remain at the Italian club.

That’s according to Tuttosport, who cover say the Dutchman has confirmed he will be spending ‘at least one more year in Granata’.

The newspaper cover comments from his entourage, who have stated confidently that ‘he will stay at Toro next season! 100%’ when asked about his future.

Schuurs had been linked with a move away from the Serie A club for several months, with teams across Europe, including in the Premier League, thought to be keen on him.

Liverpool are one of them and a report in February made it clear that they were the first of his suitors to have made a move for him.

Tuttosport confirm they were among those who were keen, explaining that Schuurs name had been ‘circulating on the desks’ of many foreign clubs and Liverpool were one of them.

They could have been able to tempt him to leave Italy, but he has instead elected to remain where he is as he has an ‘intention to grow’ and wants to keep doing it with Torino.

He believes he has more development left in him before moving to a big clubs and so will turn down the interest of the likes of Liverpool to do just that.
