Jonathan David has been on top form for Gent and has 23 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season.

Friday’s edition of Het Laatste Nieuws claims scouts from top clubs across Europe, including Liverpool, were in attendance to watch the 20-year-old in action against AS Roma in the Europa League tie on Thursday.

The forward got his name on the scoresheet and the Belgian newspaper claims the talented youngster set Ghelamco Arena ‘on fire’.

Unfortunately for David and Gent, the Jupiler Pro League side were knocked out of the second-tier European club competition.

HLN doesn’t provide details on whether the Reds or any other club are planning on making an approach for the Canada international in the summer.

Jürgen Klopp already has the services of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané as his first-choice attackers, with Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri as backup options.

David could struggle to find a place in Liverpool’s starting lineup, but may well be content with a back-up role.

Liverpool were one of 27 clubs who sent an official to the match, and all eyes are on the Canadian revelation.

His contract with Gent runs down in 2023.
