On Wednesday, Bild journalist Christian Falk explained Liverpool are favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Later that day, SportBild stated the midfielder’s entourage have informed Real Madrid that the Reds are ‘very far along’ in the transfer race.

As well as Liverpool and Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix to secure the 19-year-old’s services. PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi has already confirmed his side’s interest in the player.

Bellingham has starred for BVB this season and excelled for England at the World Cup. Former Bayern Munich star Lothar Matthäus believes the teenager’s asking price will rise beyond €150m.

He made this claim to Bild, who state the ex-Birmingham City man will leave BVB next summer even though he has a contract until 2026. Those close to him indicate he prefers a return to England, where ‘Liverpool in particular’ are a ‘hot candidate’.

Jürgen Klopp is trying to convince Bellingham to join the Merseyside club. Bild also state the Reds manager has close ties with Borussia Dortmund, but they don’t specify how it would help Liverpool to sign their player.

Liverpool’s current custodians have announced they are in the process of selling the club. The arrival of a ‘financially strong owner’ could provide an economic boost for them to carry out Bellingham’s signing.
