Kylian Mbappe is more likely to join Liverpool than Real Madrid should he leave PSG in the coming months

That’s according to Canal + journalist Hugo Cappelaere, who believes the Reds would be favourites for the French superstar.

Reports this month suggested that Mbappe is now thinking about leaving PSG once again after growing frustrated at the club. He only signed a new deal with the French giants in the summer following intense speculation about his future.

It had looked like he was joining Real Madrid on a free transfer, but a last-minute turn around saw him stay in Paris and sign a new deal.

However, this month it was explained he is thinking about leaving as early as January and Liverpool were brought into the mix.

It was explained that the forward’s most trusted advisor had seen Liverpool as the best destination for the player in the summer, with the Reds seen as the wisest choice in terms of football.

Cappelaere backs that up in his comments today, putting Liverpool ahead of Real Madrid in the running.

“It’s just calmed down. He will never leave in January, it’s impossible. On the other hand, for next summer, I do think it’s practically certain that he will leave,” he told Bernabeu Digital.

“I am not sure that Real Madrid is the number one candidate to sign him. Florentino Pérez sees how Mbappe and his entourage are behaving behind the scenes, and I don’t think he likes it at all. He doesn’t want players like that, with that mentality, in the Real Madrid dressing room.

“Especially because Vinicius’ size on the left is enormous. If Mbappe arrived, where would he play? On the right? Impossible. I think it’s more likely that Mbappe will go to Liverpool next summer.”

That’s an opinion shared by journalist Tomás González-Martín, who also insists that Mbappe won’t be moving to the Bernabeu at any point in future.

“He’s not coming to Real Madrid because he himself closed the door by playing with the club to get more money for two years,” he added.

“Instead of playing good football he is complaining, and that for Real Madrid, and for any club, is a disaster. They just gave the Ballon d’Or to Benzema and if everything goes on like this, the next Ballon d’Or will be Haaland.

“Nobody talks about Mbappe, who is stagnating, going backwards and destroying his career. For Real Madrid it’s over, such a capricious player can’t come to Madrid.”
