Trabzonspor’s academy graduates continue to dominate the sport headlines in Turkey and Haber Global’s Yagiz Sabuncuoglu says Liverpool have contacted the Super Lig club over the availability of their 23 year old goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

Yesterday we covered claims from Turkey that Manchester United are set to make an offer for Cakir’s club teammate Yusuf Yazici and today Sabuncuoglu reports Cakir is a target for Liverpool. Manchester United are said to be lining up a €27m+ bid to sign Yazici.

The Champions League holders could enter the market if Simon Mignolet leaves Anfield this summer and the Turkish journalist claims they’ve asked Trabzonspor about the player. Mignolet could ask for a move after finding his chances limited last season.

Along with Liverpool, Lille and Celta Vigo are also said to be interested in signing the young keeper, who impressed last season for his club. His performances earned him a call up to the Turkey national team earlier this year.

However, it’s claimed Trabzonspor want to keep their player by offering him an improved contract and would prefer to consider selling him in 12 months time.

Cakir is under contract at Trabzonspor until June 2021.
