Southampton are undergoing an overhaul under Ralph Hasenhuttl this summer and changing up their front line appears to be a priority.

The Saints have already signed Danny Ings on a permanent deal and Che Adams has joined him as well.

It seems, though, they are not finished there and Hasenhuttl is keen to add more goals to a side that 45 in the Premier League last season.

Their search has taken them to France, particularly Ligue 2, and Troyes striker Bryan Mbeumo. The 19-year-old scored 10 goals in the league last season, including one in the cup, and that seems to have caught the eye of several clubs.

According to L’Equipe, Southampton have already made a bid for his services and competing with Borussia Monchengladbach for his signature.

The newspaper reports that Montpellier and Strasbourg have already seen their bids of €3m-€4m rejected as they are ‘too little to compete with the proposals of English clubs (Southampton) or German.’

It is Borussia who lead the way, though, their bid of €8m convinced those at Troyes to part with the striker. Southampton’s price, or whether they will match the German’s one, isn’t mentioned.

The player is interested in a move to a foreign club, though, having previously rejected the idea. He had wanted to move to Ligue 1 but is now thinking ‘very concretely to accept Monchengladbach’s proposal’.

That suggests that if Southampton do really want him, they’ll have to move quickly to secure him.
