Liverpool are the latest club to be added to the race for Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae.

That’s in a report which comes from outlet Il Mattino, a Naples newspaper, which says the interest is due to the injury of Virgil Van Dijk.

It’s said that with the Dutch defender sidelined, that could ‘activate the market radars’ of Liverpool and bring them ‘back to the market’.

Kim Min-Jae is said to be one of the ‘most interesting’ targets the Reds have on their list, although it’s stated there’d be competition from Manchester United for his signing, which feels like something of a stretch.

The big interest in the player should indeed be something to concern Liverpool, as the defender is constantly linked to Premier League clubs, and Napoli are expected to take advantage of that situation to cash in with his sale.

Recent reports from the Italian media have said that Min-Jae has a release clause worth €50m, and as the Serie A side try to renew his contract, they’d like to remove that to be able to make more money with a potential departure. Perhaps that’s a reason why his move could be more suitable now.
