August 31st and September 1st 2017 are two days Riyad Mahrez will want to forget very quickly, as the Leicester City forward attempted to force a last minute move from the King Power Stadium.

Unaccounted for for the best part of 48 hours, the Algeria international was sat somewhere, hoping his agent would find a way out for him, but it wasn’t to be.

Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United were all linked with him during that time, yet it appears no-one really wanted him.

The Leicester Mercury have made it clear José Mourinho’s side weren’t at all interested in him, despite what the French media claimed, but that didn’t stop Mahrez from trying to wiggle his way in there, according to L’Expression.

The Algerian website state the player (we assume via his agent) made a ‘last push’ to try and get his move to Manchester United, who were looking for a winger all summer, focusing for the best part of it on Inter’s Ivan Perisic.

As L’Expression put it so “eloquently”: “In the end, Mahrez is a bit like that mate of yours who chats to loads of girls on a night out but never manages to seal the deal.”

Now stuck at Leicester City until at least January, the 26-year-old is now firmly in the shop window, hoping his side will allow him to leave when the next offer for him comes in.
