For the past week or so, multiple reports coming out of Italy have insisted Leicester City are interested in Fiorentina’s Nicolás González.

Two days ago, Corriere Fiorentino reported the forward has already agreed personal terms with the Foxes and they need to pay €5m more to meet the Serie A side’s €40m asking price.

Leicester seem to have made an improved bid, if a report from Gianluca Di Marzio is to be believed.

Prior to the clash against AS Roma at the weekend, Fiorentina chief Joe Barone had insisted the club didn’t intend to sell the 24-year-old in the winter market. That hasn’t stopped the Premier League side as they have ‘presented a new offer’ in the ‘last few hours’.

The report doesn’t provide details of the offer tabled by Brendan Rodgers’ side. However, Fiorentina have rejected the proposal for the Argentina international and they remain firm that González will continue at the club beyond the current window.

Following Fiorentina’s refusal to accept Leicester’s latest offer, the report adds the English club have ‘renounced the purchase’ of the South American and will now concentrate on other alternatives in the winter market.
