Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi was linked with a move to Leicester City this summer, but nothing materialised in the end.

The former Stoke City midfielder played a key role under Unai Emery last season, as they won the Europa League. And again this season, N’Zonzi has been a crucial player under Sevilla’s new boss Jorge Sampaoli.

N’Zonzi managed to turn his Sevilla career around, after a slow start following his move from Stoke City. Now, he’s easily in the club’s first choice team.

It has been reported the 27-year-old has a release clause of €30m, and according to a latest report from Marca, several Premier League clubs are now keen on bringing him back to England.

Marca explain how far N’Zonzi has gone under Emery and Sampaoli, and has developed a tactical awareness. The English clubs aren’t named, but it seems that now interest is developing to include others, rather than just Leicester.

The French midfielder continues to make headlines in Spain, and the interest will grow, but he seems happy where he is and any club would have to present a convincing offer to the player, even if they met his release fee.

N’Zonzi spent six years in England at Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before making his move to Spain. Sevilla would like his stay to be for longer, and are working on a contract renewal for the player, which may well see his buyout clause raise.

However, it must be noted that Sevilla have a record of not holding players back when lucrative deals are presented, and the player himself is tempted enough to leave.
