Only just signed from Club Brugge this summer to replace Arnaud Kalimuendo, Loïs Openda hasn’t wasted any time in impressing at RC Lens.

Scoring four goals in his first seven games for the Ligue 1 side, the Belgium international has already caught the attention of Leicester City.

It’s no secret the Foxes have struggled during the early stages of the 2022-23 campaign, currently rock bottom of the Premier League with just one point, and there will be a need to strengthen the squad if they want to have a chance of turning things around.

They’ll have to wait until January for that, with a frustrated Brendan Rodgers having to make do with what he has for the time being, but that hasn’t stopped his scouts from keeping tabs on potential targets, among which Openda can be found.

This comes from Media Foot in France, who claim the 22-year-old striker ‘ticks all the boxes Leicester are looking for’, which are ‘speed, power and efficiency’, and the Foxes are ‘already interested’ in him.

Openda spent last season on loan at Vitesse in the Eredivisie, where he scored 18 goals in 33 league games, meaning we doubt Leicester only noticed him when he arrived in France, but they appear to be keeping an even closer eye on him now.

Media Foot do point out it might be ‘too early to talk of a transfer or a well-embarked file’, but it’s certainly ‘an interest that will need to be monitored in the next few months’.
