Last week, Hamburger SV’s investor Klaus-Michael Kuhne heavily criticised forward Pierre-Michel Lasogga by describing him as ‘the flop of the century’. His words were condemned by Lasogga’s mother, and the saga continues.

Yesterday, we covered reports from Germany claiming there was still interest from Leeds United to sign Lasogga.

The Championship side have been linked with the 25 year old throughout August, but a move to Leeds United had gone quiet, until yesterday.

Reports in Germany suggest Leeds United are the only club interested in the signing, despite the player being linked with Bundesliga side Hannover.

Hamburg are eager to let him go due to his high salary and their desire to add new signings to the team, which could open the door to Leeds United.

Today, Sport Bild has spoken to Hamburg goalkeeper Christian Mathenia about the criticism the Lasogga received from Kuhne: “The criticism brought us together. All the players are here for ‘Lasso’. We don’t let him be hung, we support him. For us, it only counts what happens in the dressing room. We are not interested in any troublemakers.”

Due to harsh criticism from Kühne and economical reasons, Lasogga’s exiting Hamburg is looking likely at the moment, and with Leeds United needing an experienced centre forward the German remains an option.
