Despite the big stories over the past month or so saying Barcelona were close to a deal to get Raphinha from Leeds United, this rumour recently got a lot calmer, with few updates talking about the transfer.
An interesting piece now comes from outlet Mundo Deportivo, who claims it will still take a while until there are some real moves in this chase.
It’s said that Barcelona are waiting for the end of the Premier League season to know which position Leeds United will finish in. That’s because a potential relegation will make Raphinha a lot cheaper.
This time, the report doesn’t even mention clauses or numbers. All they say is that the player becomes more affordable in case the Whites go to the Championship next season.
Regarding Barcelona and Raphinha, it’s said there’s already a verbal agreement for the move. Even though the Brazilian has offers from other clubs, Mundo Deportivo claims he gives the Camp Nou side his priority and even accepts to earn less than somewhere else.
Barça are unsure about the continuity of Ousmane Dembélé at the club, and are not using their buying option over Adama Traoré. That makes the Whites’ star their big target for the summer window.
