Wednesday saw Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reveal Leeds United are keen on signing Giovanni Troupee from FC Utrecht this month.
The potential deal was a loan until the end of the season, with an injury in preseason meaning Troupee has slipped down the Utrecht pecking order after a good last campaign.
The loan transfer of Mateusz Klich to Utrecht looked to be an advantage for Leeds United, especially with claims in Holland the Dutch club are already looking towards a permanent transfer for the Polish midfielder.
Now there seems another advantage.
Leeds United’s competition was named as Sampdoria, Hellas Verona and Benevento. In Italy the transfer market is covered extensively for all Serie A clubs, with many dedicated pages.
There’s also a lot of good connections, with agent exclusives and stories followed closely with inside information. And right now there’s no serious mention of Troupee, in fact there’s no recent claims at all of a transfer to one of the clubs named as Leeds’ competition.
That can be considered odd, because if there was interest from the three it would be very widely covered.
