For the past week, reports from Germany have been claiming that Leeds United and VfB Stuttgart are fighting to sign Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.

Even though both clubs were said to be heavily engaged in this pursuit, it now seems the Whites are falling behind a little.

According to the latest update from Sky Deutschland, Stuttgart now placed their second offer for the transfer. They want Nubel on a year-long loan, paying a fee less than €1m.

That may sound unimpressive, but still places the Bundesliga side ahead of Leeds, who the report says are still to place an official bid for the move.

The story points out the Elland Road side are ‘still in the running’, but need to make their attempt.

Leeds’ advantage is apparently that they want Nubel signed on a permanent deal, and that may sound more attractive than what Stuttgart have to offer.

The Whites now need to move fast. Because besides placing their bid, Stuttgart’s CEO already spoke to the player, who’s said to be keen on the transfer to their Bundesliga rivals.
