Leeds United are ‘in the front row’ for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez this summer but need a big sale before they can make their move.
That’s according to Centotrentuno, who say the midfielder’s future is likely to be away from the Serie A side.
They explain that after an impressive season, Nandez has been in good form at the Copa America for Uruguay, and that has only increased the interest in his signature.
Inter Milan remain his ‘strongest suitor’ in Italy, but they are short on money and continue to ‘grope their way’ through the market.
That’s a price the Nerazzurri cannot afford, so the hypothesis of moving abroad is becoming ‘more and more important’, with Leeds in the front row.
However, it’s stated Marcelo Bielsa’s side need to wait for an ‘important sale’ before they can make a definitive move to bring Nandez to Elland Road.
Who that player would be isn’t mentioned, although after last season, there are certainly several candidates Leeds could sell and make a big sum from.
Nandez, for his part, is just focusing on the Copa America but is aware of the interest from Leeds nonetheless.
“The rumours about Leeds? I’ve heard, but to be honest, I don’t know anything yet, and my mind is on the Copa and achieving the goal,” he’s quoted as saying.
