Leeds United and Aston Villa handed boost to land target as club line up replacement

 

Leeds United and Aston Villa have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Nantes’ forward Yacine Bammou, following reports the Ligue 1 side are lining up a possible replacement for the player. The Championship sides have been linked with the Morocco international in the past week.

French football portal But Football Club have claimed Nantes are giving consideration to signing Baniyas Club star Ishak Belfodil this summer. Bammou no longer looks to be in the long term plans of Nantes coach René Girard, and the former Inter Milan and Parma player is an option open to the French club. Belfodil has experience playing in France after coming though the PSG youth systems before make his senior debut with Lyon.

Bammou is expected to leave Nantes in this transfer window despite the club having an injury crisis in the attacking department. Bammou is the only recognised forward currently fit, but Girard seems to have lost confidence in the player, and therefore wants to bring in reinforcements.

Leeds United and Aston Villa will be hoping to take advantage of Bammou’s situation, with both clubs keen to bolster their attacking options before the season starts.

They will face competition from fellow Championship sides Wolves and Brighton, but also from Ligue 1 side Toulouse.
