On Thursday, Feyenoord, through one of their directors, came out and made it clear that Leeds United had yet to move for Arne Slot.
The Dutchman is now widely seen as the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Jesse Marsch, who was sacked earlier this week, but he doesn’t appear to be going anywhere for the time being.
That’s because he is enjoying life at Feyenoord, where his team are currently top of the Eredivisie and well on their way to having a good run in the Europa League.
While Leeds are in the Premier League, their position in the table is precarious, to put it nicely, and there is a risk that they could be relegated if things don’t go well with the next manager.
De Telegraaf look at Slot’s situation on Friday, and explain the Elland Road side aren’t the only ones taking notice, as Slot is ‘closely followed by several clubs’ in England’s top tier, as well as abroad.
They are still ‘in the race for three main prizes’, and everyone knows that if they manage to lift the Eredivisie, then ‘his market value increases further’.
Down his end, the manager is ‘not concerned with his personal situation’ and only ‘has an eye’ for Feyenoord at this moment in time.
Therefore, it seems Leeds will have to keep looking elsewhere, although their pool of managers is dwindling by the day, with Marcelo Gallardo recently turning them down.
