Since the English media broke the news that David Luiz is leaving Arsenal at the end of the season, it seems several clubs have been moving to find out their chances of signing the defender.

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola is the one bringing an update on the situation, claiming there’s a long list of cubs who’d like to add the 34-year-old to their squad.

He says the real offer so far comes from Benfica. The Eagles would pay David Luiz €2m net per season, even though he currently makes €6m at Arsenal, where his contract expires in the summer.

Meanwhile, four Brazilian sides made an approach, according to the defender’s staff. These are São Paulo, Palmeiras, Flamengo and Atletico Mineiro.

Two of them, however, are put out of the race for now. First Atletico Mineiro, who turned down the rumours, and then São Paulo, who wouldn’t have the conditions to get close to Benfica’s offer.

David Luiz has had a good connection with Benfica since leaving the Lisbon side, and a return there doesn’t seem out of the question for the Arsenal player.
