Antonio Conte is likely to end up at Manchester United at some point, with the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That’s according to journalist Marcello Chirico on Il Bianconero, who believes the Italian is ‘not stupid’ and will jump at the chance to move to Old Trafford.

The pressure is currently on Solskjaer after a poor start to the season and several chastening defeats, particularly last weekend’s 5-0 loss to fierce rivals Liverpool.

The feeling is that Manchester United need to bring in a more experienced manager to get the best out of an expensively assembled squad.

Conte is the obvious option given he’s currently out of work after leaving Inter Milan and has the title-winning pedigree from his spells in Italy and England.

Whether he’d be interested in the job isn’t known, but Chirico insists he would be, stating that Conte ‘will most likely go to Manchester United’ because he’s ‘not stupid’.

In other words, he’s not likely to turn down the chance to work with a squad absolutely brimming with world-class talent.

Of course, Solskjaer will have to be sacked for Conte to end up in Manchester, and there is seemingly no taste for that to happen at this moment in time.

More poor performances, though, and United will have no choice but to make a change, at which point Conte will seemingly jump at the opportunity.
