Chelsea are keeping a ‘close eye’ on Eden Hazard’s situation at Real Madrid ahead of a possible move for him in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the Belgian could be leaving Madrid after failing to establish himself under Carlo Ancelotti.

Hazard remains on the fringes of the Real Madrid squad, with his continuing injury issues meaning Ancelotti prefers others ahead of him.

That’s led to speculation he could be moved on in January, with a return to the Premier League the most likely option.

Mundo Deportivo back that up, stating that Ancelotti would have no problem with Hazard leaving should he ask to do so.

Indeed, that is something he was asked about recently and made it clear he will not stand in the Belgian’s way in such a scenario.

That’s not on the table at the minute, but it could be, and should it become obvious he’s on the way out, Chelsea are ‘very attentive’ to the situation.

They’d be interested in bringing Hazard back to Stamford Bridge after his glittering spell with them in the past.

Now there’s no mention of talks or anything of that nature as yet, just that Chelsea are watching how things go ‘in case they can go for him in January’.

It’s a situation to keep an eye on then, with this potential move likely to build or lose momentum depending on how Hazard fares under Ancelotti in the next few months.
