Eden Hazard is not interested in a move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window, even if they are willing to splash the cash to get him.

That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say the Belgian is happy in Madrid and determined to stay at the club.

This season has been another slow one for Hazard in Spain, who has been plagued by injuries since joining Real Madrid from Chelsea.

He appears to have put those issues behind him for now but still can’t force his way into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, with him preferring Vinicius Junior on the left, a decision that has paid off so far this season.

Hazard is a bit-part player at best, and that has inevitably led to suggestions he could be on his way in the January transfer window.

Newcastle were inevitably brought into that conversation, with it suggested they could use their new wealth to make Hazard the first big-name signing of their regime.

It seems that won’t be happening, though, with HLN pouring several buckets of cold water on the suggestion.

They say that Hazard ‘does not want to leave’ Real Madrid, certainly not in January and ‘certainly not to Newcastle’.

Why that’s the case isn’t mentioned, but the fact that the Magpies don’t have a manager or a technical director in place is, so that is likely to be part of it.

The main reason, however, is that Hazard is happy in Madrid and so are his family, while he is well-liked in the dressing room as well.

He has no reason to want to leave, and if he were, it seems it wouldn’t be for a relegation battle with Newcastle.
