With Ineos appearing to be closer than ever in their attempt of buying 25% of Manchester United, they will also get a major say in sporting matters.
This has been reported on for quite a while, but there are more details emerging in France of what will take place at Old Trafford if it all goes through.
Foot Mercato bring the latest, claiming that major changes are expected to take place after news emerged that Richard Arnold was to leave his role as Manchester United’s CEO.
The French website claim that Jean-Claude Blanc, current the general director of Ineos Sport, will be the one to replace him once the minority stake is purchased, while there have been ideas as to who would take the spots of John Murtough and David Harrison if they were to be moved on.
For the director of football role, Foot Mercato report that two names are strongly appreciated above others, with those being former AS Monaco director Paul Mitchell, as well as ex-Liverpool transfer man Michael Edwards.
On X, reporter Santi Aouna claims the former is ‘ready to sign’ and take over from Murtough, but some deals have ‘yet to be finalised’.
In short, he appears to be the frontrunner.
