Every day we open the Portuguese newspapers, we keep seeing the Fulham striker Luciano Vietto.

With Sporting getting closer to signing the 25-year-old, who’s loaned by Atletico Madrid to the Cottagers until the end of the season, the local media have started a public relations campaign to convince everyone how good he is.

This time, newspaper O Jogo called Antonio Mur, who used to be Vietto’s coach at Racing’s academy, to talk about the player’s quality from his time back in Argentina.

“He has an incredible technique and finishes very well,” Antonio Mur told O Jogo. “If he has continuity in a team, he will once again be a key piece, for sure. I know Vietto very well. We signed him from Estudiantes because he had the potential, although he still had to mature.

“He was a quiet kid, who expressed himself playing. It was necessary to give him confidence, and in the juniors he exploded. Scored 15 goals. Played with Ricardo Centurión and they did what they wanted on the pitch, it was nice to see them play.”

“He did not end the championship with us because he went to the first team. He had no physique to play in the box and so he played on the outside, made diagonals and was able to reach finishing areas and made it happen.”

O Jogo continues to claim that it’s all agreed for Vietto to move to Sporting. The Lions and Atletico Madrid have reportedly reached a deal where the Lisbon side get €20m plus the striker, to cover the previous transfer of Gelson Martins.

Now Sporting need to agree Vietto’s salary, since he reportedly makes €2m per season after tax, and the Lions can’t afford that.

Fulham aren’t thought to be a problem, because it’s considered they haven’t been aware how to use the player and are set for relegation anyway.
