As ESPN Brasil is airing this week an interview they held with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, journalist João Castelo Branco is already releasing some parts of it on Twitter.
Today, we get to see the 29-year-old speaking to the Brazilian players who recently got involved in big Premier League transfers, with the likes of Richarlison, Bruno Guimarães, Lucas Paquetá, Antony, Casemiro and Gabriel Jesus all costing loads of money.
The Liverpool star claimed those big signings are all good for all players, always pointing out that English football has a big advantage of being able to spend that much, and that’s why he now has so many compatriots playing in the same league as him.
“Look, I see that this is changing more in a general way. Football is changing values and especially here for the Premier League, we know the economic power of clubs. So that’s an advantage for the league. And obviously the teams that are selling these players are taking advantage of the opportunity.
All those players, however, had already been in Europe, and it’s not the Brazilian clubs who make big money with their transfers. So Alisson urged the interested sides to start making purchases directly in the South American country, because, by doing that, they would be helping the local sides have bigger economic growth.
Not to mention that they’d certainly pay less for the signings as well: “Brazilian football needs it too. I hope that the same look they are having for players who already play in Europe can also be transferred to players who play in Brazil. So that it can also help clubs directly. This would be very important.
“That imbalance when a player leaves Brazilian football and comes to Europe in the first step, so that it becomes more level. But this is important. This is part of a process. And these players being valued, everyone ends up being valued together.”
