When it comes to Benoît Badiashile, Manchester United know all there is to know.
The Red Devils have been following the young defender since 2017, and even made a few moves to try and sign him from AS Monaco.
They ultimately failed, with the 19-year-old now an integral part of Niko Kovać’s team in the principality, having made 25 appearances in the league during which he scored two goals and picked up an assist.
Over the summer, both Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen were keen on his services, but the player has no regrets regarding his decision to stay, as he explained to RMC Sport in an interview on Monday evening.
He said: “It’s the right choice. I haven’t known good seasons at Monaco, so I’m savouring it. To continue with my childhood club is the right choice”.
The player was then asked by Mohamed Bouhafsi if he regretted not taking up the chance of moving to Manchester United.
His answer? “No, not at all”, followed by a laugh.
Born in Limoges in 2001, Badiashile’s first youth club was Limoges FC, where he stayed until 2008, followed by eight years with SC Malesherbes before his move to Monaco in 2016, where he has been ever since.
