Leeds United midfielder Brendan Aaronson has admitted he’s had a ‘tough time’ at the club so far following his summer move to Elland Road.

The American joined Jesse Marsch’s side from RB Salzburg in the summer, with Marsch moving quickly to snap up his compatriot to fill the hole left in his midfield by Kalvin Phillips’ move to Manchester City.

The 21-year-old arrived at Leeds with a big reputation, having established himself as one of the exciting young prospects currently coming through in American football.

Many have predicted a bright future for him, particularly after he managed 13 goals and 15 assists in 66 games for Salzburg during his 18 month stint there.

He’s quickly established himself as a favourite with Leeds, starting all of their league games so far and bagging a goal in the win over Chelsea and an assist in the draw with Everton.

It seems, though, while for the rest of us it appears his adaptation has been a simple one, that is not the case as far as the midfielder is concerned.

“It’s good to be here with the team, it’s been a tough time, I’m not going to lie to you, but now we’ve had the international break and I feel ready,” he told Fox Sports.

“I think that part of it is crazy to think about how the World Cup is just around the corner, now with Leeds I haven’t had time to think about it.

“We’ve only got two games before the World Cup is here, but we’re ready for whatever comes.”
