Manchester United star Paul Pogba has started the new season on a bright note by registering five assists in his first three matches.
The midfielder and Bruno Fernandes starred against Leeds United by registering four assists and scoring a hat-trick respectively.
While the 28-year-old impressed on the pitch for the Red Devils, it’s not clear how long will he continue to wear their shirt.
His current deal runs down in 2022 and various reports have suggested the France international is looking to leave Old Trafford as a free agent, for the second time, next summer.
TV2 in Norway interviewed the World Cup winner prior to United’s 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday and he was ‘tight-lipped’ about his long-term future with the English club.
“When you get to a final and lose, it is always very painful. Now we are hungry to do better than last season and we want to win a trophy.
“I’m happy. To be honest, I’m glad I’m feeling good. I’m healthy, I have no injuries and I’m happy, even if I would have preferred to win the last game [against Southampton]. It’s all about winning.”
The former Juventus man also gave an insight into his relationship with United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“To be honest, I have known Ole for a long time and we have always had a good relationship, and he is good with all the other players as well. He was here as a player, so he knows the club very well. It’s been really good since he came in,” he explained.
“His strength may be that he understands the players, because he has been a player himself. He understands the players. He understands when we might need rest and he knows how to talk to the players. I think that’s his strength.”
Solskjaer is still waiting for the first trophy as a United manager and Pogba is of the belief the Norwegian will be successful in delivering it.
“Yes, that’s for sure. He is here and there is a reason why he is the manager of this club, both he and the players know that. He has been chosen since he has the skills to do it and he is in a position where he can do it, that is for sure,” Pogba stressed.
“It is obvious in this club’s DNA to win trophies. But I think we just have to be ourselves, play our football and then everything will come naturally.
“We have that in mind, but we have to focus on playing well and doing the right things, then I think things will come by themselves. We have a strong team that can become champions. We know how hard it is, but we will do our best to lift the trophy this season.”
