If there was one man who was always going to be somewhat affected by the arrival of David Moyes at London Stadium, it was going to be Felipe Anderson.

Relying on flair and attacking speed, the Brazilian struggled to impose himself in the Scottish manager’s ideas, and while West Ham managed to avoid relegation to the Championship, they did so mostly without their £34m signing as he started just one game post Covid-19 break.

That’s why there have been whispers he could leave the club in the summer transfer window, with Lazio, his former club, a potential destination.

It never grew to anything meaningful, and the Serie A club’s desire to bring in David Silva put that idea on hold, but the Spaniard’s choice to move to Real Sociedad instead of Rome has scuppered their plans.

That’s why Gazzetta dello Sport report that Lazio are planning to find an alternative to the now former Manchester City star, with James Rodríguez a potential option.

However, they also make it clear that we shouldn’t ‘underestimate’ the idea of a Felipe Anderson return to Stadio Olimpico.

They aren’t the only ones, either, as Corriere dello Sport have a bit on the Brazilian’s future in their edition, explaining the Brazilian’s holiday in Rome didn’t go unnoticed, as they claim he ‘wants to return’.

Whether they do that by loaning him or simply offering enough money to convince the West Ham owners to let him go, we’ll have to wait and see, but judging by the other deals they want to do and the fact Silva was free, we’d lean towards the former of the two options.

Either way, this could grow in the coming weeks, so we’ll keep an eye on it.
