Rúben Neves has won only one piece of silverware since he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017 and that came in his debut season in England, when his side won the Championship.

The midfielder has been a regular for the Premier League side over the years and is content with his life at Molineux.

At the same time, the Wolves star has now detailed his desire to play in the Champions League, something that seems highly unlikely with his current employer. This also hints the 25-year-old is eyeing a move elsewhere.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are 13th in the table, trailing fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur by 21 points. In addition to this, Wolves have been knocked out of the FA Cup, which also rules out the possibility to qualify for the Europa League next season. Winning the competition is one way to make it to the group stages of the second tier European competition.

“I’m extremely happy here [at Wolverhampton], but obviously, in terms of my career, I’d like to play in the Champions League again. It’s one of my goals to try to win as many titles as possible before I finish my career. That’s a goal of any player, to be able to play in the biggest competitions in the world, to be able to play at the highest level,” he told ELEVEN Portugal, relayed by Record.

Neves’ contract expires in 2024 and he’s been repeatedly linked to Barcelona. Wolves may decide to cash in from his sale in the summer if he refuses to sign an extension.
