Julio Enciso was one of the new players to arrive at Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window and he joined them from Paraguayan side Club Libertad.

The 18-year-old made his debut for the Seagulls in their EFL Cup win over Forest Green Rovers in August, and Roberto De Zerbi handed the forward his league debut in Brighton’s 4-1 win over Chelsea at the weekend.

The Paraguay international has expressed his delight after making his first Premier League start. He revealed this during a chat on Twitch with journalist Edgar Cantero.

“The coach always calls three players to warm up, and I was warming up. When he called me for the first change, I was nervous, I didn’t know if I was going to put on the shirt, it was a very happy moment,” Enciso said, as quoted by D10.

“It was a dream really, because many young people want to get to play in the Premier League and thanks to God, my parents, people who supported me from day one, it was given to me.”

Another Paraguayan outlet, Crónica, have also relayed comments made by the Brighton player.

“I see videos of top players, I see myself playing the game they do, I see myself as the player who can be different, who can help the team. But I am aware that I still have a lot to learn,” he explained.

The South American is learning English and not knowing the language is currently ‘costing him’, but he remains confident that with time, he will be able to overcome it, to settle quickly in England.

When quizzed what he ‘miss the most’ about Paraguay, Enciso explained: “I miss friends, family, language. The food, the chipa guasu, the rora. Those things I miss. I also miss the affection of the people (from Paraguay).”
