Beating Finland away from home 1-0, Denmark took a big step towards qualifying for next year’s Euros thanks to a goal from Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

Among those who participated in the game was Rasmus Højlund, now at Manchester United, who came off the bench to help out at half time, replacing Jesper Lindstrøm.

The striker has been given limited playing time by his country this international break after talks with the Red Devils, but the forward is now eager to return to his club, where he can’t wait to help out, as he said after the game, relayed by Bold.dk.

Asked whether he is looking forward to returning to Manchester United, he said: “Of course I am. I’ve said it many times and that’s probable the biggest thing you miss when you’re with the national team. So I’m looking forward to it. I live the dream every day, so I’m happy about that.”

Højlund may not have scored this time around for his country, but seeing him play for 45 minutes will have been great news for Manchester United, who have been very cautious with him since buying from Atalanta.

The striker missed the first few games of the season after an injury was discovered during his medical, and he came on for the final 40 minutes in the 3-1 loss against Arsenal.

The time away from Manchester United was for him to get more minutes under his belt ahead of a tough run of games that Højlund revealed he cannot wait to be a part of.

He added: “It has been positive. I think that I did well when I came in and I hope that there are more minutes after the international break. We have some exciting matches ahead. We have to face Brighton and Bayern Munich, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
