Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has been repeatedly linked to Manchester City over the past few months and the number of reports on the same topic have intensified in recent weeks.
Two days ago, reports coming out of Spain indicated the Citizens are ‘better placed’ to sign the Borussia Dortmund star in the summer.
On Tuesday, Sport stated the Premier League winners made an offer and Barcelona, who are also interested in the striker, will not match that proposal.
Later that day, Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger reported City made the ‘best proposal’ to the Norway international, who has not yet made a decision on his future.
BVB advisor Matthias Sammer previously worked at Bayern Munich when Pep Guardiola was in charge of the Bavarian club. He is of the belief Haaland will benefit playing under the ex-Barca manager at the Etihad.
“They will both benefit from each other. Because Pep of course – I was able to experience him for three years – has a certain idea. I can also imagine dealing with a centre-forward, no question,” Sammer told Amazon expert Mario Gomez, relayed by Bild.
“But he will also have to learn from the centre-forward. Accordingly, it must be conditional. How long this lasts overall remains to be seen. Interesting constellation.”
Sebastian Hellmann was also part of the panel for Manchester United’s clash again Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. He further quizzed Sammer whether Haaland will move to City in the summer.
Responding to that, the BVB consultant said: “I have no idea, I was fully focused on the game here.
He further explained: “I didn’t hear anything today, yesterday, the day before yesterday. I know City’s behind [him]. The numbers – I had whiplash! I fainted. My wife lifted me up. Accordingly, it is possible.”
Bild state the overall cost of the operation to sign Haaland will be around €330m and Manchester City are one of the few clubs who can afford to carry out this huge deal.
