Things are going pretty well for Valencia this season so far. Currently second place in La Liga, the club are having a better campaign than Real Madrid, and local outlets are even speculating about a title challenge.
This good form is keeping a calm mood around the club, and that’s a reason why they have been patient with Andreas Pereira. Despite being criticised at the start of the season, the player is still getting some opportunities and had the chance to start against Alavés this weekend, and made an assist in a 2-1 win.
Pereira has now been interviewed by the club’s official radio station, and talked about the time he’s been living at the club (via Super Deporte).
In an interview earlier this month, Pereira claimed Mourinho was worried about his loan, and contradicted himself about the clause to return to the club in January.
This time, asked about the similarities between Marcelino and Mourinho, Andreas said: “They are similar, the two are very demanding, they are doing very well and we must continue like this.”
Then the reporter commented that Manchester United are also in second place, and the player answered: “They are doing well too, but now I am focused here doing the best for Valencia.”
Then United were never mentioned in the interview again.
To be fair to Pereira, given his previous Manchester United and Mourinho comments have been questionable, it’s probably best to say as little as possible.
