Nicolai Jorgensen potential move from Dutch side Feyenoord to Newcastle United was no secret towards the end of the transfer window.
Even the player commented on the rumour earlier this week, as he opened the doors to a Premier League move in the future, even though he claims to be focused on his club for now.
And now it’s time for his agent Mikkel Nissen to talk about Newcastle’s pursuit of the player, as he spoke to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet this Tuesday.
The representative wasn’t afraid of saying that Newcastle made big efforts to take the player from Feyenoord in January, and makes it clear that a Premier League move is likely in the summer window.
“I can confirm that Newcastle specifically wanted to have him and did a lot to make it successful. There were also other Premier League clubs in play, but Newcastle was the most daring,” Nissen said.
“But Feyenoord was against it. They just didn’t want to sell him in this transfer window and will look at it this summer.”
Regarding a move in the future, the agent said: “But now he’s ready to take next step. It’s always a balance to find the right time to go on, but I think we’ll find a solution this summer. Feyenoord has also had time to look for a replacement.”
Ekstra Bladet claims that Jorgensen could be Denmark’s most expensive player ever, with a price of over three digits. That would be in Danish Krone.
