Sassuolo cut short Uroš Račić’s loan stay at West Bromwich Albion in January and then sent him on loan to SC Braga.

The defensive midfielder had a temporary spell at the Portuguese club during the 2022/23 season and has made six appearances so far in his second spell.

TuttoMercatoWeb now state there’s been a ‘rebirth’ for the 26-year-old after leaving West Brom for Braga.

Last summer, the Serbia international joined the Baggies on a season-long loan deal. He made 22 appearances for West Brom and was in and out of starting lineup under Carlos Corberán.

The manager left the Championship club to take over at Valencia in December and West Brom replaced him with Tony Mowbray. Račić lost prominence at West Brom after Corberán’s exit.

Sassuolo acted quickly to take him away from The Hawthorns and let him join Braga. The move has worked out for the player, who is currently happy in Portugal.

TMW relay claims that Braga are seriously considering making the former West Brom man’s stay permanent in the summer. Sassuolo will be able to earn €2.5m from this operation.

After ‘less than a brilliant experience’ at West Brom, Sassuolo are hoping for Braga to buy Račić.
