Romanian legend Florin Raducioiu now seems to regret having said something about Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin.
When the centre-back was given the award as being the best player in his country, the former striker went public claiming the Spurs player is not that good, while attackers should get such a prize.
Now as the 54-year-old spoke to Orange Sport about that subject, he claims he was probably too tough when speaking about the Tottenham defender.
“It was not a personal thing. It was just my reaction, maybe a bit harsh, I admit, with that word ‘shepherd’. I think I made a mistake there, I apologise, and actually I did it a few months ago.”
With Tottenham spending €25m to sign Dragusin from Genoa in January, the transfer made a lot of noise in the Romanian media, with people actually proud that one of their national team players went to the Premier League on a big transfer.
The centre-back is still trying to find his place in Spurs’ team. He has made five appearances so far, and had his first chance to start last weekend, in the 3-0 defeat to Fulham.
So while Dragusin tries to prove Raducioiu wrong, he also needs to convince Ange Postecoglou that the big investment made on his signing will be worth it as well.
