Andrey Santos is getting closer to having his work permit to play for Chelsea.

The midfielder made his national team debut at the weekend, and according to reports from Brazil, there’s only one more step for him to get the visa.

Globo Esporte writes that according to the maths made by the player’s staff, he only needs to play for Vasco da Gama in the first division now.

Since he’s a newcomer to the first tier, he’ll need one appearance to get the four necessary points to be granted the permit.

Andrey is loaned to Vasco by Chelsea until June. The Brazilian League starts in April, and there’ll be plenty of time for him to get a few appearances.

The midfielder is also set to play in the U-20 World Cup in that period. Globo Esporte says that won’t help him to get the points for the visa, but would be of use in case the Blues have to make an appeal to prove his potential.

Andrey was signed by Chelsea on a €12.5m deal, in a contract until 2030.
