Due to a hip injury, Manchester United star Antony wasn’t able to feature in any of the Red Devils’ last three matches.

The winger missed the games against West Ham United, Real Sociedad and Aston Villa, and it’s still unknown whether he’ll be back in Erik ten Hag’s squad before the World Cup break.

As Brazil manager Tite on Monday named the squad which is going to the tournament in Qatar, Antony was included in the list. Since it’s known he’s injured, national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar spoke a little about the player’s situation, and even brought a few updates on how his recovery at Manchester United has been going.

“Antony had a small problem in the flexor muscles of the right hip, he is in the recovery process,” said Rodrigo Lasmar (via Goal).

“We’re in contact with the player, with the medical department. He’s in a recovery phase. We have time for him to recover in time to be with us. This week is important, we are talking day by day. This final phase is important.

“A lot depends on this week. I spoke to him in the morning, he’s feeling better, it’s early. He hasn’t started training with the group yet, he’s in physical therapy.”

Manchester United have a game against Fulham on Sunday, and players are then released to their national teams for the World Cup.

Antony will join Brazil’s squad in the company of his teammates Casemiro and Fred, who also made it to the list. Fullback Alex Telles, loaned by the Red Devils to Sevilla until the end of the season, will also be in Brazil’s squad.
