Manchester United consider Lazio midfielder Serge Milinkovic-Savic as Paul Pogba’s ‘heir’ but face increasing competition from Paris Saint Germain for his signature.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the French giants have what it takes to convince the Serie A side into a sale.

Earlier today, we covered a report from Gazzetta Dello Sport that stated Manchester United were back in the picture for Milinkovic-Savic and would need €70-80m for his signature.

It was explained that the player’s recent trip to Paris, which was purely for personal reasons, is being seen as something of a prelude to the summer transfer window and CM pick up on that.

They say while the trip has ‘nothing to do’ with the market, there is certainly interest from PSG as the player’s name has been on Leonardo’s list ‘for some time’.

He’s been raving about him since his time at AC Milan and even made a concrete attempt to sign the midfielder in 2018 but was rejected outright by Lazion.

His interest in the Serbian has not gone away, though, and he is now ready to ‘challenge’ Manchester United for his signature.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito will not be an easy man to deal with, but PSG have the ‘right arguments’ to convince him and get the player, who is ‘seriously thinking’ about finding himself a new club.

At the moment, Lotitio is demanding €100m, but that is ‘destined to fall’ to around €70-80m, the same price Gazzetta were quoting.

That’s a price PSG can more than afford, but they will have to challenge Manchester United, who consider Milinkovic-Savic as ‘the heir of Pogba.’
