Liverpool are yet to agree a deal for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, with Valencia manager Ruben Baraja coming out to make his stance clear today.
Marca cover comments from the Spaniard, with him insisting that there’s nothing imminent and he refuses to talk about the matter because of that fact.
“It is very simple. As long as there is nothing, I am not going to evaluate it. I am not talking about hypotheses,” he said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Barcelona this weekend.
“He has a contract with Valencia and, as long as there is no different situation, he is our player. He is ready to participate in tomorrow’s game. He is prepared to compete, when things happen, we will talk when they happen.”
They say Mamardashvili has trained this week as normal, with a departure not yet imminent despite Liverpool seemingly pushing.
A transfer had seemed close, but the Reds are yet to strike a deal with Valencia, who value him at €40m, a figure Liverpool are yet to reach.
That’s a figure that’s already scared off the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle in the past when they showed interest in a deal.
Liverpool aren’t pulling away and seem convinced by the idea of signing Mamardashvili and sending him to Bournemouth, but with no agreement in place it seems Valencia and Baraja are keen to remind everyone the goalkeeper is still their player to do with as they please.
